Welcome to our Car of the Week series, where we feature BTE customers and fans, and the cars (and trucks) they love to drive and race. Today’s spotlight is on Dave Sidle and his '78 Chevy Nova. No shortage of Nova lovers out there!
How did you get into drag racing?
I used to race at the local dirt tracks. After watching my friend get severely burned one night I decided drag racing was the better way to go.
When and where was your first race?
Avilla Dragway in Avilla, Indiana in 1989.
What model/year do you race now?
A 1978 Chevrolet Nova, but I'm working on a 1964 Nova wagon.
Does your car have a nickname?
What's under the hood?
A 383 Chevrolet engine with AFR heads, Lunati cam, Edelbrock intake and an AED carburetor.
Which BTE products do you use in your vehicle?
I run the 9 1/2" converter, deep aluminum transmission pan, BTE transmission fluid and the locking dipstick.
Why do you use BTE?
Because of the high quality, durability, fit, finish and great prices.
Someone you look up to in racing?
I always looked up to Bill Grumpy Jenkins. He made the most power with the least money.
If money were no object, what would you drive?
A tubbed 1964 Nova station wagon with an all aluminum smallblock Chevy.
What is your pre-race ritual (if you have one)?
I like to listen to music. My favorite song is "Green Onions" by Booker T and the M.G.s.
