Car of the Week: Scott Mills' 1994 GMC 1500

Welcome to the BTE Racing Car of the Week series, where we feature our customers and drag racing fans, and the cars (and trucks) they love to race. Today we're featuring Scott Mills from Jackson, Tennessee, who owns and races a 1994 GMC 1500.

How did you get into drag racing?
My dad’s best friend William West got me interested.

Where was your first drag race?
Jackson Dragway in Jackson, TN.

What model/year do you race now?
‘94 GMC 1500

Does your car have a nickname?

What's under the hood?
Clement 468 BBC

Which BTE Racing products do you use in your vehicle?

Why do you use BTE?
Awesome folks and great products.

Do you have any stories about how BTE helped you improve your racing?
Chance and the guys have always gone out of their way to take care of me. Even meeting us somewhere to pick up parts when we couldn’t make it all the way down to the shop before a race. The converters they have built me have always been dead on.

A drag racer you look up to?
I would have to say William West. He was my Dad’s best friend and has always treated me like a son. He owned the first drag car I was ever around as a kid. I have always looked up to him. If it wasn’t for him taking the time to show me stuff as a kid, I wouldn’t be in racing today.

If money were no object, what would you drive?
Pro-Stock. A door slammer would be a dream come true.

What is your pre-race ritual (if you have one)?
When my door closes in the staging lanes, I tighten my belts, put on my helmet and say a prayer. I ask the good Lord to please keep me and my opponent safe and for us to keep the dirty side down lol.
