Car of the Week: Rory Vick's 1972 Rally Nova

Welcome to the BTE Racing Car of the Week series, where we feature our loyal customers and drag racing fans, and the cars (and trucks) they love to race. Today we're featuring Rory Vick from Riley Township, Michigan, who owns and races a 1972 Rally Nova.

How did you get interested in drag racing?
As a kid in the 70s 

When and where was your first drag race?
First time I drag race at track was around 2004 at The Ubly Dragway  Ubly  Michigan. 

What model/year do you race now? Any special features?
Rally nova 1972 all steel except hardwood hood.

Does your car have a nickname?
My wife does! lol

What's under the hood?
388 SBC 14.1 AFR220s 

Which BTE Racing products do you use in your vehicle?
I have a BTE aftermarket case PG with 1.80 straight cut gears. Definitely a bullet proof setup for bracket racing at my level.

Why do you use BTE? How has BTE helped you improve your racing?
BTE has great quality parts. I haven't had any case or transmission failures since I started using a BTE transmission.

Who is a drag racer you look up to?
Lizzy Musi, Kye Kelly, NPK, Jason Line, and Greg Andersen. 

If money were no object, what would your dream car be?
1986 Chromoly Trans Am chassis car running 5.50s in 1/8. I love Bracket racing!

What is your proudest drag racing moment?
Runner up in the 2017 Bowtie Challenge out of 385 cars, so it was a great day at Northern Michigan Dragway.

Why do you race?
I am an addict!

What is your biggest challenge as a driver?
The bottom bulb is a stinker sometimes.
