Welcome to the BTE Racing Car of the Week series, where we feature our loyal customers and drag racing fans, and the cars (and trucks) they love to race. Today we're featuring Mandi DeLarec from Akron, OH, who owns and races a 1991 Mustang.

How did you get interested in drag racing?
My father, uncle and sister all race.

When and where was your first drag race?
Dragway 42 when I was really young. My first race competing was at Summit Motorsports Park.

What model/year do you race now? Any special features?
1991 Mustang

Does your car have a nickname?
Vivian

What's under the hood?
302 SBF

Which BTE Racing products do you use in your vehicle?
Torque converter, valve body

Why do you use BTE? How has BTE helped you improve your racing?
I used BTE after watching others race successfully with BTE products. Having a reliable converter helped me have a very successful 2019.

Who is a drag racer you look up to?
My dad. He’s old school and still manages to make it work.

If money were no object, what would your dream car be?
What I have now, but with the ability to do wheelies.

What is your proudest drag racing moment?
Winning my first Wally at Night Under Fire. Bringing that trophy home to my dad was the proudest moment I’ve had racing. He cried.

Why do you race?
The thrill. It’s what I grew up around as a kid and I wouldn’t change it.

What is your biggest challenge as a driver?
Being taken seriously as a female driver
