Car of the Week: Layne Robertson's 1962 Mercury Meteor

Welcome to the BTE Racing Car of the Week series, where we feature our customers and fans, and the cars (and trucks) they love to race. Today, it’s all about Layne Robertson from Litchfield, MN and his 1962 Mercury Meteor.

How did you get into drag racing?

I got into racing through a friend, Mike and his son, Justin.  They showed me the ropes, I went through tech, raced and was hooked!

When and where was your first race?

My first race was at Grove Creek Raceway, Grove City, Minnesota in 1998.

What model/year do you race now?

I race a 1962 Mercury Meteor.

What's under the hood?

Which BTE products do you use in your vehicle?

BTE converter and transmission

Why do you use BTE?

BTE was recommended by other racers.

Someone you look up to in racing?

I look up to Roger Meyer, my friend who always bails me out when I'm having trouble.

If money were no object, what would you drive?

I would drive the same car, even if money was no object.

What is your pre-race ritual (if you have one)?

My pre-race ritual is to make a few laps at the end of the track and do a first to second shift.
