Welcome to the BTE Racing Car of the Week series, where we feature our loyal customers and drag racing fans, and the cars (and trucks) they love to race. Today we're featuring John Jeffries  from Belle Vernon, PA, who owns and races a 2001 Chevy S10.

How did you get interested in drag racing?
Former Aviation Mechanic in the military. We used to drag race on the runway when we had the chance. 

When and where was your first drag race?
Fort Hood Texas, 1984

What model/year do you race now? Any special features?
2001 Chevy S10. Extreme Chopped tip tube chassis and Blown Alky BBC powered drag truck 

Does your car have a nickname?
The Rowdy Rat

What's under the hood?
565 cu in BBC 12:1 static  Blown on alcohol Fowler F11 Plus supercharger Dart Big M Callies JE etc.

Which BTE Racing products do you use in your vehicle?
BTE input shaft, BTE clutches, BTE Kevlar Band Pump, and Hub.

Why do you use BTE? How has BTE helped you improve your racing?
Customer service is great. Parts hold up to serious abuse and not constantly breaking. 

Describe BTE Racing in 3 words.
My transmission guys. 

Who is a drag racer you look up to?
Bobby Dodrill, Chris Cadatto, CG Night. All those big bad truck guys. 

If money were no object, what would your dream car be?
Same ride we have but probably billet Hemi for power 

What is your proudest drag racing moment?
Outrunning a nostalgia funny car with the Rowdy Rat

Why do you race?
Promoting our shop Motorworx shows what a small grassroots guy can accomplish. 

What is your biggest challenge as a driver?
Consistency and getting a good launch
