Car of the Week: Danny Cianciola's 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle

Welcome to the BTE Racing Car of the Week series, where we feature our customers and fans, and the cars (and trucks) they love to race. Today, it’s all about Danny Cianciola of Memphis, TN and his 1968 Chevelle.

How did you get into drag racing?

I loved cars as a kid.

When and where was your first race?

Summer Avenue in Memphis, TN, but legally, it was Byhalia Raceway.

What model/year do you race now?

A 1968 Chevelle that I’ve had for 35 years. I drove it to high school a gradually fixed it up over the years.

Does your car have a nickname?

“Big Red”

What's under the hood?

512 Big Block

Which BTE products do you use in your vehicle?

Everything! I just bought a rear disc brake setup, and going to replace the rear coilovers with BTE.

Why do you use BTE?

They have experience! Neal Knight is a great parts guy. They are a nice group of people, and I knew Bill Taylor.

Someone you look up to in racing?

Don Garlits

If money were no object, what would you drive?

The same car, but install a 632CU. Or a nostalgia Top Fuel Funny Car.

What is your pre-race ritual (if you have one)?

I do things the same way every time. I just pretend it is a Sunday drive, and don't pay attention to who is in the other lane.
