Car of the Week: Daniel Tanner's 2001 Z06 Corvette

Welcome to the BTE Racing Car of the Week series, where we feature our customers and fans, and the cars (and trucks) they love to race. Today, it’s all about Daniel Tanner in Youngsville, NC and his 2001 Z06 Corvette

How did you get into drag racing?

I was first introduced to racing by my grandfather in 1974. I was 5 years old and watched him drive a beast L88 Corvette at Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ.

When and where was your first race?

My first race was in 1987 at Raceway Park.

What model/year do you race now?

I now race a 2001 Z06 Corvette.

Does your car have a nickname?

I haven't given my car a nickname, but my friends call it the Bat Mobile.

What's under the hood?

I'm running a LS6 with Lingenfelter ported heads, fuel system & T9 cam, BBK SSI intake & 80mm throttle body, full MSD ignition, Hooker Exhaust, Centerforce clutch and Vortex V3 stage2 supercharger kit from A&A. The car makes 645 RWHP/639 torque. Not the fastest ZO6 out there, but I'm working on it.

Which BTE products do you use in your vehicle?

I don't use any BTE products at this time, but I'm planning on upgrading to a BTE transmission this summer.

Someone you look up to in racing?

I like the old school drivers like Big Daddy Don Garlits, Richard Petty & my grandfather Carlson Tanner.

If money were no object, what would you drive?

I'd race a Calloway Corvette C7 GT3-R.

What is your pre-race ritual (if you have one)?
