Welcome to our new blog series where we highlight our BTE-sponsored racers. Get to know our racers’ journey, receive some exclusive insight on what BTE products they use, and some racing advice. Kicking off is our Michalyn Roelle from Timid Tiger Racing, who left the naysayers in the dust as she pursued her dreams. We’ll be highlighting one racer each month in our blog, so stay tuned!

What do you race?

Top Dragster - Blown Alcohol 540ci Chevy

How did you get into racing?

My dad raced boats when I was a child, so racing runs in my blood. I grew up watching drag racing on TV and after attending my first event as a spectator at age 15, I knew I wanted to be a part of the sport. My dad and I built a super comp dragster to get started and a few years later we began competing in top dragster as well.

What BTE product(s) do you have?

We run BTE transmissions and converters in both our top dragster and super comp dragster.

Why are you proud to represent BTE?

Switching over to BTE products turned around our racing program, and has helped us continue to set new personal bests. BTE makes really reliable and consistent parts, which is exactly what we need to get through a race season. We were able to swap out transmissions at our last race and not miss a beat in qualifying. We are honored to be a part of the BTE team!

What is your proudest moment racing?

My proudest racing moment would be setting my new personal best of 6.21 at 227 mph in November 2020, and then making a semi-final appearance at the same event. Top dragster is extremely competitive and each season the cars are running quicker and quicker. We’ve been working hard at finding the right tune-up and to finally accomplish our goals was amazing!

What races are you looking forward to this year?

I’m looking forward to racing in Sonoma, California this July, as we missed this race last year due to COVID and other family obligations. This is one of my favorite tracks and I can’t wait to see how fast our dragster runs there—now that we found our magic tune up! Hopefully, we can set a new personal best for ourselves.

Why do you race?

Not only do I love racing because of the adrenaline rush, but I love the sport because of the equality. The car doesn’t care if you’re male or female, young or old. Everyone has a chance and it’s an awesome experience to be a part of a sport that is so inclusive.

What is the best racing advice you've ever received?

The best racing advice I’ve received was to block out the naysayers and trust my instincts.

Anything else you'd like to share?

My biggest advice to other racers, especially young girls, is to never give up no matter what others may say.
