Car of the Week: Mark Taylor's 1966 Ford Mustang

Welcome to the BTE Racing Car of the Week series, where we feature our customers and fans, and the cars (and trucks) they love to race. Today, we're featuring Mark Taylor and his 1966 Ford Mustang.

How did you get into drag racing?
I had a good friend that raced. I would always help him, but he didn’t go as often as I wanted to. I built my first car in 1988.

When and where was your first race?
US 43 Dragway in Etheridge, TN

What model/year do you race now?
'66 Mustang

Does your car have a nickname?
I call it a lot of names, but not really a nickname.

What's under the hood?
Lucas Walker-built SBF

Which BTE products do you use in your vehicle?
Transmission and converter

Why do you use BTE?
Great and reliable products.

Someone you look up to in racing?
There’s many! But I guess Lucas Walker is top of the list. He’s as good as anybody, especially footbraking! He absolutely never gives up!

If money were no object, what would you drive?
I really wanna run stock some day.

What is your pre-race ritual (if you have one)?
When I get in the late rounds I always take a deep breath and say a short prayer in the water box.
